Our takeaways from Ceramitec 2024
Along with the rest of the European ceramics community, Drupps attended Ceramitec in Munich last week, which happened on April 9-12. Here are our takeaway notes.
One of the world’s highest cities starts rationing water for 9 million people
Authorities in Bogotá, Colombia’s capital, announced on April 8th that residents would have to ration water as drought, fueled by El Niño, pushes reservoirs toward record lows. As global warming makes extreme weather such as heatwaves and drought more common and more severe, experts warn that the stress on cities’ water systems will only increase.

In theory, reducing water scarcity should reduce conflict risk. Technical solutions that increase supply and decrease demand can mitigate competition that might otherwise increase the risk of conflict.

Grupo Lamosa, one of the largest ceramics producers of the world, has purchased a system for recycling of airborne wastewater from Drupps to be installed at one of its production plants in Peru, to achieve sustainability ambitions by increasing water efficiency and to ensure long term operational viability.
Drupps finalist at The Tech Arena Pitch40 competition in Stockholm
Amidst a pool of hundreds of applicants, Drupps has been selected as one of 40 finalists at the The Tech Arena Pitch40 competition, to showcase its novel technology for recovery of airborne wastewater and its evaporation energy, significantly reducing industrial water use and CO2 emissions.
